Seedstock Baltic Porter by Seedstock Brewery is being evaluated as a Baltic Porter (2015 BJCP Category 9C).

Being a Baltic Porter, it’s extremely dark brown yet one can still see that the clarity is brilliant. Little to no head formed nor lingered, however.

Upon first sniff, one... Read More

The 87

The 87

Massachusetts
USA
The 87, Night Shift Brewing
Description

Lovingly named after our address in Everett, 87 is a tremendously hopped, hazy Double IPA. It pours hazy and glowing orange. A simple, clean malt bill allows its tropical bouquet of hops to shine bright. It sips smooth, with huge notes of nectarine and tangerine. Medium hop bitterness balances a hint of sweetness from the malts.

The can art for 87 is inspired by the mural at our brewery and taproom in Everett (fittingly located at 87 Santilli Hwy). We see 87 as our “house DIPA” so it only made sense to have it look and feel like our Everett “house.”

To properly pull off a Belgian Pale Ale – a combination of hops-, malt-, and fermentation-derived flavors – the brewer needs to blend a combination of knowledge, skill, and artistry. Bronx Brewery’s Belgian Pale Ale does this remarkably well. The aroma of hay, grain, light honey, lemon, thyme,... Read More

Catskill’s Eye of Newt is being evaluated as a Flanders Red (2015 BJCP Category 23B).  One of the difficulties in this style is displacing the sour, acetic acid character without dominating the other attributes in the beer.

Eye of Newt opens with a pleasant aroma that’s a mixture of... Read More

For being an American Pale Ale, 8 Days a Week by Beer'd Brewing Co has the aromatic punch of hops of an IPA in intensity and with flavors of papaya, lime zest, resin, and a subtle note of garlic. As it true of most APA’s, 8 Days A Week has a counterbalancing malt backbone of light caramel, grain... Read More
