Coast West '22 by Wild Leap Brew Co. was evaluated per the BJCP 2021 style guidelines as a 22A, Double IPA.

The beer pours as a clear gold color with a large persistent ivory head of tiny bubbles. A biscuit-like bready aroma and moderate citrus grapefruit zest notes are clean and balanced. There are some tangerine and very light pine notes that also appear in the aroma. The malt in the first taste is biscuity with some light caramel notes and a bit of toffee that adds an interesting complexity. Flavor hops bring a really nice tangerine note, and just a bit of ripe peach, which works well with the malt profile. The bitterness is clean and smooth, at the low end for the style, but still well balanced. There is a nice clean alcohol note, which is quite smooth. A medium body, this beer has a lingering finish of tangerine and biscuit malt. Pair this beer with a simple meaty sirloin steak and extra-crispy cubed fried potatoes.
