Vacanza Banana Lime Coconut Imperial Gose by Wild Leap Brew Co. was evaluated according to the BJCP 2021 Style Guidelines for 23G, Gose with added fruit.
The beer pours a very hazy light gold with a tiny beige head that formed just a slight ring, but bubbles continued to rise from the nucleation point in my glass. A very light bready aroma continues to a mild citrus fruitiness of lime and lemon, with hints of apricot stone fruit and maybe just a smidgen of strawberry along with moderately low banana notes.
The flavor echoes the aroma with light bread dough notes and slight graininess, along with a moderate lime citrus note. The base gose is well represented with a moderately high minerality - not quite overtly salty, but also almost no tartness and no hop bitterness (which is appropriate for style). There is a barrel-like coconut note also. Some juniper or fir notes add complexity. The beer has a medium body and quite low carbonation. Subsequent sips show up with some low black pepper spicy notes added.
Overall, this is an interesting and enjoyable beer, but more carbonation would improve the overall enjoyment by bumping up the aroma, flavor and mouthfeel. With the citrus, minerally, and fruity notes, this beer would pair well with a simple grilled chicken with black pepper and garlic spicing.
