Bob Townsend has been writing about beer and food for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution for well over a decade. His Beer Town column appears in the paper's Thursday Food section and his weekly First Look restaurant feature runs in the Wednesday Living section. He frequently writes on a number of topics ranging from cooking, dining and drinking to music, film and travel. Currently the editor of Southern Brew News, a bimonthly beer paper distributed throughout the Southeast, and an associate editor of Beer Connoisseur, he's contributed to All About Beer, Draft, Downbeat, Paste, No Depression, Stomp & Stammer, Playboy.com, the Village Voice and the All Music Guide to Jazz. Townsend grew up on a small family farm, with five siblings, a mother who was an imaginative home cook, and a father who was a basement home brewer.
