Sour Me Unicorn Farts by DuClaw Brewing Co. is a sour ale with fruit cereal and glitter and was judged as BJCP category 28C, “Wild Specialty Beer.” The aromatics opened with a slight blackberry ester and a touch of grainy, biscuit malt. No other fruity aspects are noted. There is a hint of lactic sourness. Nothing off or out of place, but all the aromatics are very subtle. The beer pours a golden yellow color with substantial haze. It’s difficult to see the glitter through the haze but held to the light at the right angle it can be seen, though I’m not sure it’s contributing anything to the presentation. A creamy white head drops into a wispy cap that lingers. The flavor provides a little berry-like fruitiness, somewhat artificial tasting, but that's expected considering the key ingredient is fruity cereal. There is a moderately low level of lactic tartness, which is balanced by the grainy, biscuit character. The finish is medium-dry aided by a touch of lemony tartness that lingers into the aftertaste and builds as you work though the glass. A medium-light body is present with moderate carbonation and a touch of acidic bite that's not unpleasant or harsh.

Overall, this is a nice sour beer with some berry character. While I didn’t find it to be particularly reminiscent of fruity cereal, I don’t know that that’s a bad thing. My only ding on the beer would be the lemony tartness that seemed to build to nearly pithy levels as I finished the beer, becaming a little distracting. I find that these types of beers suffer somewhat by setting expectations that are very difficult to live up to. If you are looking for fruity cereal in your sour beer you might be a little disappointed, but as a sour beer it’s a nice, refreshing example.
