HTX IPA by Urban South Brewery was judged as a Hazy IPA (21C BJCP 2021). The aroma is strong in hops that are floral, earthy and somewhat herbal. There is a modest tropical fruit aroma as well, along with a little chalkiness. With a few spins of the glass and some rest, a more pronounced tangerine citrus aroma avails itself. The color is straw with some haziness, as anticipated. A fine layer of off-white foam  covers the surface, building into a band of medium-fine foamy head along the edges of the glass. The flavor is intensely fruity with mango and citrus as the dominant components. Alcohol is detectable and lends a mild nutty flavor, perhaps enhanced by the use of adjuncts or intensive dry hopping and associated oil components to promote haziness. Some malt sweetness is present as well. The mouthfeel is medium-full with a slightly clinging quality. Some alcoholic warmth is present, but not distracting. Overall, this is a well-made hazy IPA with an expressive fruit quality, but the mouthfeel is a bit heavy, and I wouldn't say it really stands out in this ridiculously crowded field.
