Session Saison by Seedstock Brewery falls under the category of 25B Saison according to the 2015 BJCP Guidelines. The pour revealed a light brown hue and not a golden nor straw-colored one typical of the style. The aroma of this beer had nice, spicy, floral notes along with some fruity esters that were subtle but very nice. I didn't detect any hops. The flavor of this beer was light all the way around. It was noted from the very beginning that it was a "session saison" and it reflects that idea. The malt backbone was very light as well as the hop bitterness. I got subtle hints of malt sweetness and light fruity esters and yeasty characteristics of the style. Very farmhouse flavors typical of the saison style. The mouthfeel of this beer was very light. Again, this beer tasted flat. It did not have carbonation in the pour nor in the body and mouthfeel. Carbonation would definitely make this beer a little better giving it a little bit more weight and perhaps highlighting some of characteristics and making it more pronounced. Overall, this is an easy-drinking session saison. It had a nice, smooth finish with a bit of sweetness in the finish. A definite easy-drinking beer for the upcoming summer months.
