BC: What's your favorite aspect of this beer (flavor, aroma, etc.)?
The flavor and finish of this beer are hands down my favorite. It starts out rich and full bodied with some semi-sweet chocolate notes, then manages to lighten up on the palate, finishing soft and velvety with a touch of a lingering roasted chocolate bitterness for balance. The whole experience is surprisingly refreshing.
BC: Where does this beer's name come from?
At one point this beer was simply known as Diebolt's Standard Porter named for a beer brewed by the original Diebolt Brewing Company (located in Cleveland, Ohio, pre-prohibition). Apparently people just thought we weren't creative and kept offering to help us rename the beer. Since we have a bit of a travel/lifestyle theme to a lot of our beers, and who doesn't like some good alliteration, Postcard Porter was born.
BC: Is this your "desert island beer?"
As deceivingly refreshing as this beer is, I'm going to go with a no on that one. I'd go with something a little lighter, a little more blond, less body, a touch tart with a funky personality... and yes, I'm still talking about a beer.
