Funkwerks Debuts Galaxy, a Single-Hopped Saison

In a newsletter from the brewery, Funkwerks, Inc. has announced a new single-hopped saison with Galaxy hops, releasing June 11 at the brewery.

The newsletter also outlined a saison aged in red wine barrels that will release on June 25.

Here's the full text from Funkwerks:

Brewing single hopped Saisons gives us the opportunity to focus on the unique qualities of one hop and accentuate the best characteristics of that single ingredient. Galaxy hops are known for their tropical fruit flavors, so we added passion fruit juice, just for fun!
 
Notes of passion fruit with a slight spice. 

Released: Saturday, June 11.

We took a batch of our Great American Beer Festival gold-medal winning flagship Saison and let it age in red wine barrels. The oak smooths the effervescence and spice notes of the Saison while amplifying the fruit characteristics.
 
Notes of citrus fruits, red wine and oak. 
 
Pairs well with an extended pinky finger.
