Savannah Brewery

Southbound Brewing Company is the first production microbrewery located in Savannah, Georgia. Southbound launched our first brew in the state in mid May 2013. We aspire to become the most innovating and exciting yet. By bringing the American beer revolution to Savannah's back door, we hope to cater to the tastes of the South by tantalizing your taste buds and keeping things interesting!

Smith Mathews and Carly Wiggins

Smith Mathews
Brewmaster & Managing Partner

A native to Statesboro, Georgia, Smith is a Founder and Brewmaster of Southbound Brewing Company. Smith earned his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from The Georgia Institute of Technology while working at Sweetwater Brewing Company throughout college. He started in the back of the house, working on the bottling line but later joined the events and marketing staff of Sweetwater's tap room.
After experiencing all facets of the brewing industry, Smith was accepted into the fall 2009 class of The Seibel Institute of Technology in Chicago, Illinois and Doemens Academy in Munich, Germany. After obtaining an International Diploma in Brewing Technology from the World Brewing Academy, Smith returned to Sweetwater as one of their brewers and simultaneously started working on his MBA. Smith was later hired on as the Head Brewer and first employee of a start-up brewery, moving his brewing career to Charleston, South Carolina.

Carly Wiggins
Marketing & Sales Director - Co-Founder

A native to Statesboro, Carly also attended college at The Georgia Institute of Technology. She received two degrees in Industrial Design and Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. Carly began working for Sweetwater Brewing Company in 2007 doing marketing, events, and promotions. After many years of experience with Sweetwater, Carly joined a startup brewery with Smith in South Carolina as head of Marketing and Events in early 2011. As co-founder, Carly is the Marketing and Sales Director for the company.
