Low Road Oktoberfest by Low Road Brewing poured a firm amber out of the crowler presented (Style 4B–Festbier) that was quite clear with a snow white head that lingered slightly and then backed down straight away.
The aromas detected, while not unappealing, seemed to be in the caramel family, leaving out the toasty impression that is central to the style. As the beer warmed, there were some other fruity characteristics to the aroma, in the raisin/fig area.
Flavors were good for the style, although there were some slight astringency to it, which confirmed a more overly roasty character to the beer than is to style. Finish also came in a little heavy, maybe a touch too much alcohol as well, both of which detracted from the overall drinkability of the beer.
