Razzleblaster Busey is a Flanders-style Oud Bruin Ale revved up with rowdy raspberry righteousness and fermented funkily in an oak oubliette.

You are really drinking this for the raspberries because they are done so well. A classic Flanders Oud Bruin would need more malt character but here the Flanders Oud Bruin base keeps the beer from being a cloying alcho-pop. The sweet and the tart balance leans slightly to the tart but the malt character backs keeps the tartness under control. Extra malt would diminish the raspberry.  The beer has just a trace of well-aged balsamic – the expensive kind – along with a touch of lemon, a light sweetness and then a big burst of raspberry – I will have to try balsamic on my raspberries some time – this beer shows the pairing works very well. Flanders Oud Bruin (23C) With Raspberries (29A.
