pFriem Family Brewers, the esteemed brewery based in Hood River, Oregon, proudly unveils plans for a captivating addition to its portfolio: a brand-new taproom nestled within the iconic Milwaukie City Hall building. This strategic expansion, slated to debut in April 2025, marks a significant stride for pFriem, renowned for its top-tier craft brews and unwavering dedication to community engagement.
Since its inception in 2012, pFriem has emerged as a beacon of brewing excellence, with a steadfast focus on both Pacific Northwest and European beer traditions. Garnering an array of accolades, not just for its exceptional brews but also for its unparalleled Tasting Room experiences, pFriem has secured its place as a four-time winner of the esteemed Oregon Beer Awards for Best Brewpub Experience. The brewery's commitment to crafting approachable yet distinctive libations has solidified its reputation as a paragon of quality and hospitality.
Josh Pfriem, Brewmaster and Co-Founder of pFriem Family Brewers, expressed his excitement about the new venture: "We’re extremely excited to be growing our future here in Milwaukie. The City has been incredibly welcoming, and we hope we can play an important part in growing the local business community downtown as well as providing the community a really cool space to come together in.”
The forthcoming pFriem Milwaukie taproom, ingeniously housed within the historic City Hall's former fire station, promises to be a vibrant epicenter for the local community. Boasting a sprawling pergola-covered outdoor patio, an exclusive dining and event space upstairs for a myriad of brewery and communal gatherings, and a cozy lounge area reminiscent of Hood River's beloved Bear's Den, the taproom is poised to cater to the diverse tastes of its patrons. With an extensive lineup of over 20 taps featuring a diverse selection of pFriem brews and artisanal cocktails, the space will comfortably accommodate more than 100 guests, ensuring an unforgettable experience for all who visit.
Josh Pfriem explained further why Miluwakie was an ideal spot for their second location, “Over the past couple of years, many of our friends have been moving to Milwaukie and surrounding areas, and we’ve been intrigued by that region for some time now. When we first saw the old City Hall building, we knew immediately this would become our second home. It is a beautiful, unique space with a lot of history in the local community. It’s sited on a magnificent property with stunning green space, large trees, and a sculpture garden, with plenty of parking on site and in the surrounding downtown area, abundant public transportation options, all within a stone's throw from the banks of the Willamette River. We’re excited to help energize the downtown area with our 7 day a week presence, the events that we will run in our tasting room, and in general with the creation of a warm and inviting community space."
Joining forces with pFriem in the revitalized City Hall building is Keeper Coffee, revered for its steadfast commitment to quality, community, and exceptional coffee. Since its establishment in 2020, Keeper has become a cherished fixture in the Southeast neighborhood, celebrated for its delectable house-made pastries and meticulously crafted espresso beverages served in antique ceramics. “We’re stoked to be neighbors with a great coffeehouse and bakery, folks who truly share our passion for quality beverages, and hospitality”, Josh said. Keeper Coffee will also be opening in early Spring 2025.
pFriem Family Brewers and Keeper Coffee extend a warm invitation to all to partake in this momentous venture and savor the harmonious blend of craft beer, exquisite coffee, and communal camaraderie at their soon-to-be-unveiled Milwaukie location.
