The full release from the brewery is below.
SAN DIEGO, CA – For the second year in a row, AleSmith Brewing Company will be welcoming the New Year in true craft brewery style with a unique “hop drop” at the Tasting Room. Guests will enjoy festive party favors, DJ music, two dance floors, and a choice between two different ticket options. Both tickets include an east coast New Year’s toast at 9p.m. PST with a preview pour of AleSmith’s February 2019 release of “Brütiful Day” Brüt IPA.
For $20 including tax and gratuity, “Beers & Cheers” ticket holders will receive a special flight consisting of tasters of Gregariously Hopped IPA, Strawberry Tart Horny Devil, Single Barrel Old Numbskull, and Apple Cinnamon Speedway Stout, one of the winners of AleSmith’s popular Speedway Grand Prix event. The Brüt IPA will be served in time for the hop drop, during which a giant hop flower will be lowered from the ceiling to coincide with the New Year’s Eve countdown.
Those looking for a more upscale experience should opt for the “VIP Celebration Dinner” for $65 inclusive of tax and gratuity. These guests will have exclusive access to the Mezzanine level throughout the event, including a private dance floor. The delectable dinner spread will showcase catering by Brother’s Provisions, highlighted by braised short ribs with balsamic jus and crispy onions, and a wild mushroom and spinach lasagna. The real star of the dinner is the create-your-own beer flight, which allows guests to choose four tasters from a list that includes the above “Beers & Cheers” flight brews, plus several barrel-aged selections. Options include Port Wee Heavy, Coconut Vanilla Barrel-Aged Speedway Stout, Barrel-Aged WaffleSmith, and Barrel-Aged Cookie Speedway, another Grand Prix winner. The icing on the cake is the “Brütiful Day” toast served in a souvenir glass at 9p.m., alongside the aerial view of the hop drop. This ticket option goes up in price to $75 on Saturday, December 15th.
“Brütiful Day” is a new AleSmith Brüt IPA that will be the first release in the classic brewery’s 2019 Hopwright Series. This effervescent brew exhibits notes of mango, white grapes, and pineapple from a heavy dose of Nelson Sauvin hops. Featuring a delicate malt backbone, bone-dry finish, and a smooth and subtle bitterness, it’s the perfect beer to ring in the new year. New Year’s Eve Hop Drop guests will have the opportunity to taste this new offering before it’s available to the public this February.
AleSmith Owner, Peter Zien, shared what he’s most looking forward to in 2019. “I couldn’t be more excited to celebrate the new year with the great fans of AleSmith. We have some fantastic new beers on the way, CheeseSmith opening, and a few more tricks up our sleeves to make 2019 a spectacular year for AleSmith and its supporters.”
