Craft Brewers Buddying Up with Jameson Whiskey Barrels

The makers of Jameson Irish Whiskey have announced the next phase of a collaboration with American craft brewers called Drinking Buddies. Jameson is partnering with five breweries from across the U.S. which were chosen, said Jameson’s media release, for exemplifying devotion to the spirit of their neighborhoods, craft and quality.

The five breweries are Angel City Brewery in Los Angeles, Captain Lawrence Brewing Company in New York, Deep Ellum Brewing Company in Dallas, Great Divide Brewing Company in Denver, and Hilliard's Beer in Seattle. Jameson invited brewers from each company to the distillery in Ireland, and then sent them home with Jameson Whiskey barrels to create a limited edition beer inspired by both their experience in Ireland and their own unique neighborhood.

The beers in production include two Irish red ales--Imperial Irish Ale by Angel City and Trans-Atlantic Red from Captain Lawrence.  Local Legend – Jameson Edition will be a dark ale from Deep Ellum, The Smoothness by Great Divide a dark lager and Jameson Whiskey Barrel Sour a kettle-made sour saison by Hilliard's.

Jameson is releasing a series of videos on the trip to Ireland and the story of its partner breweries in the coming weeks on JamesonNeighborhood.com The first episode is about the visit to the distillery ( click here ) . The ensuing episodes will chronicle the experience of making the beers at each brewery.

"The breweries involved share Jameson's passion for craftsmanship, quality, and creativity," said Sona Bajaria, Director, Jameson Irish Whiskey, Pernod Ricard USA. "With the creation of these locally brewed Jameson-inspired beers, our goal is to pay homage to the spirit of each brewery's neighborhood."

The new program follows last year's collaboration with KelSo Beer Company of Brooklyn.
