Upland Brewing Co. announces the return of Teddy Bear Kisses—a Russian Imperial Stout aged on fair trade cacao nibs. This seasonal favorite is now available in 4 packs and on draught.
“Contrary to the thought of gentle kisses from a teddy bear, this Imperial Stout is one of the boldest and more intense beers we make, clocking in at 10% ABV,” said Pete Batule, VP of Brewing Operations. “Even the dark, mysterious imagery on the bottle is contrary to the warm, happy feelings you get while enjoying this stout.”
“Teddy Bear Kisses is aged for four weeks on cacao nibs to provide an intense chocolate flavor and aroma, like sipping on cup of hot cocoa,” said Matt Wisely, Innovation Lead. “A roasty bitterness balanced by moderate sweetness provides incredible drinkability for this style.”
Teddy Bear Kisses pours dark with a bursting aroma of dark chocolate and vanilla with a notes of velvety malt character and rich molasses. Winner of a Gold Medal in the 2010 World Beer Championships, this brew is widely sought after by beer lovers looking for a powerful stout. Cardinal Spirits, a Bloomington distillery, recently fermented and distilled Teddy Bear Kisses to create their German spirit Black Bear Bierschnaps, released in late October. Delicious on its own, this chocolaty, malty, dry schnapps is perfect for beer or whiskey cocktails.
About the beer:
This oak aged Russian Imperial Stout is slightly sweet with bold chocolate, dark caramel, and vanilla flavors. Subtle hints of fruits evolve from the additions of caramel malts and molasses. A dry coffee-like finish balances the bitterness and expressive roast character.
